Pierre Dørge’s New Jungle Orchestra have attained near legendary status over the past quarter century – as they have traveled the globe with their heady brew of joyous world music.
Over the past quarter century guitarist Dorge’s Danish collective have enthralled audiences with their uniquely entertaining mixture of jazz, Asian, African and European musics which bring an extraordinary arsenal of instrumentation into play – from childrens music boxes to sea shells.
A liberal sprinkling of humour is a feature of playful live performances delivered with no small amount of musical panache - it’s no wonder they are regarded as something of a national treasure in their homeland.
"There is no band on earth quite like the almost-big-band - New Jungle Orchestra. Referring a lot to Duke Ellington’s kind of 'jungle music', but they go forward and back in time, across genres and cultures in the most delightful, surprising ways"
Performance at Bray Jazz Festival sponsored and financially supported by the Danish Arts Council.
