With players like the assembled quintet involved, Dublin's current jazz scene is in rude health indeed.

The subject of a recent RTE documentary along with his saxophone playing cousins, guitarist Hugh Buckley could not have timed the release of his third CD 'Sketches of Now' better.

Greatly admired for his lyrical and fluent playing, the Dubliner is joined her by some of the capital's finest players, with saxophonist Ciaran Wilde and Justin Carroll on hammond organ ably assisted by Dave Redmond on double bass and drummer Shane O'Donovan.

This latest incarnation finds the unassuming guitarist in increasingly soulful mode, but this muscular line up drives along and should be perfect in the After Hours club setting.

"Sketches Of Now may be the best example of his fluent, songlike, lyrical guitar playing, and of his gift for composing attractive material"- The Irish Times.
