Key figures in new Norwegian music, Trygve Seim and Frode Haltli have played together in various projects for more than a decade.
As a duo they share an interest in the expressive potential of acoustic music across all stylistic boundaries, from world folk traditions to contemporary composition.
On the surface saxophone and accordion together might seem unusual, but it's really a perfect combination. Both are reed instruments driven by air—one blowing, the other compressing or expanding a bellows.
Seim and Haitli are both award winners - Seim's debut album on Europe’s foremost jazz label ECM winning the annual prize of the German Record Critics prize, and, Haltli's ECM debut receiving the French Prix Gus Viseur in 2004 as well as the Norwegian prize for Best Contemporary Music Album.
Exciting and fresh voices in contemporary Scandanavian music, Seim and Haitle’s soundscapes are highly evocative, distinctly compelling and filled with life.
