An all star cast from the highest echelons of the Sao Paulo scene, Trio Corrente’s star is very much in the ascendance in their native Brazil.

Moving across the rich rhythmic terrain of bossa, samba and choro, Trio Corrente are yet another high watermark in vibrant Brazilian music.

Their playing is agile and arrangements often breathtaking, while always having that Brazilian gift for equal parts lightness of touch and heavy grooving.

The group is comprised of Edu Ribeiro, the sensational drummer for Chico Pinheiro or Yamandu Costa, pianist Fabio Torres is currently working with Joyce, and bassist Paulo Paulelli is a mainstay in the bands of Ivan Lins and Rosa Passos, historical figures both.

Although, those musicians have individually charted very distinct and highly successful musical careers – the formation of Trio Corrente was in retrospect almost inevitable.

They form a brilliant trio using their deep knowledge of the Brazilian rhythms as a start up for improvisations, and demonstrating an understanding that is almost telepathic!
