‘Calling all Ellington fans’ for an afternoon of swing, that elusive but vital ingredient that gives jazz its unique flavour.
After more than half a century of playing, the evergreen Chas Meredith has swing in abundance in his vast repertoire of vintage material.
Appearing here on baritone saxophone, he’ll be putting a fine band of Irish musicians led by Hugh Buckley through their paces in a set that includes the beautiful and enduring small group music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, and other jazz classics.
The show is part of Bray Jazz Festival's continuing programme of free to the public matinees at The Royal Hotel, and all are welcome to come along and enjoy an afternoon in the company of one of Ireland's most respected players. |
