Led by the incredibly gifted violinist Tcha Limberger, this trio celebrate the age old folk music played by Gypsies in the Kalotaszeg region of Translyvania.
Saved from possible extinction by the efforts of Hungarian composers Bela Bartok and Kodaly, the compositions celebrate the rich cultural traditions of the Carpathians, embracing folk musics of Hungary, Romania, and of the traveling gypsy communities.
The son of the great guitarist Vivi Limberger and grandson of legendary violinist Piotto Limberger, Tcha Limberger grew up surrounded by his pre-eminent family of musicians, and was raised listening to the gypsy-swing style of pioneering virtuoso jazz guitarist and composer, Django Reinhardt.
Blind from birth, Tcha is a world-class violinist with a haunting and melodic voice. He is joined in The Kalotaszeg Trio by Toni Rudi on violin, and by Berki Victor on brac, a Croatian instrument used in tamburica ensembles.
“Tcha Limberger seems to be made entirely out of music.”- The Observer
