One of the most original and influential guitarists, jazz musicians and composers of his
generation, Kurt Rosenwinkel is a major force in contemporary jazz.

Based for the past number of years in Berlin, where he is also tenured at the city’s Jazz Institute, Rosenwinkel has a quickly identifiable voice on guitar and a rare gift as a composer.

A native of Philadephia and a graduate of Berklee College of Music, he gained his first formative professional experiences in bands led by Gary Burton and Paul Motian before emerging as a band leader, composer and leading improviser in his own right.

He has released a series of critically acclaimed recent albums, including ‘The Remedy’, (2008) ‘ Standards Trio: Reflections’ (2009) , and with a 19 piece Portuguese emsemble ‘Kurt Rosenwinkel & OJM: Our Secret World’ (2010).

His band members are notable players in their own right - Aaron Parks an acclaimed pianist and composer, and Eric Revis and Justin Faulkner a rhythym section perhaps best known for their work with Branford and Wynton Marsalis.

"There’s this kind of fluidity and architecture in the lines that he plays that I don’t think I’ve heard anybody else do. There’s a mystery in it to me. He’s really developed his own language with the musical information and the way he’s playing the instrument" - Bill Frisell

“Kurt Rosenwinkel is re-defining the mainstream”- The Boston Phoenix
