‘Tapestry Unravelled’ is a beautiful and elegant re-working of songs from Carole King's beloved classic album, by one of the most acclaimed singers on these islands.
Dublin born but based for some years in the UK, BBC Jazz Vocalist of the Year Christine Tobin is accompanied on a captivating reworking of songs from ‘Tapestry’ by one of the UK’s leading jazz pianists, Liam Noble.
At once familiar, yet captivatingly fresh, Tobin and Noble recreate a mood that is both intimate and personal to such Carole King classics as ‘A Natural Woman’, ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’ and ‘Beautiful’.
Although Tobin has described the songs on ‘Tapestry’ as "perfect in themselves”, those who have witnessed her interpretation of the originals – in her sold-out show at Dublin’s National Concert Hall a few months ago, saw a dazzlingly talented singer at the height of her powers.
For ‘Tapestry Unravelled’, which is already featuring in ‘Album of the Year’ listings, Christine Noble has found the perfect foil in pianist Liam Noble, a brilliant pianist and one of the UK’s most original and versatile players.
"Christine Tobin is inspiring... she is in a class of her own” - Leonard Cohen."
"One of the most gifted and original singer/songwriters in today’s jazz world." Ian Carr, BBC Music Magazine
"There’s a thrilling, dark timbre to Tobin’s voice that moves you like no other singer."- The Guardian
