Showcasing Irish Jazz
Contemporary Irish jazz is experiencing something of a golden age. While the economic 'Celtic Tiger' may be on the wane, it is certainly boom time in the creative musical community of a country which for a long time lacked the musical infrastructure to support the development of jazz, at a pace to compare with our European neighbours.

More and more it is to Ireland that our neighbours now look however - and the depth and scope of artistic creativity now available in this country is at a level that has rarely been seen before.

With this year's programme we seek to reflect something of that renaissance - and it is fitting that alongside a fantastic international dimension, we play host to many of Ireland's great jazz musicians and ensembles, in 2008.

Amongst those who will feature are Justin Carroll's exceptional new quartet 'Togetherness', the fine young Irish singer 'Cormac Kenevey with The Phil Ware Trio', Nick Roth's Balkan ensemble 'Yurodny', the exhilarating 'Miles Davis Electric Tribute', featuring Ronan Guilfoyle and Michael Buckley, Dylan Rynhart's 'Fuzzy Logic', and the ever popular Cuban collective that is 'Havana Son'.

Dave Douglas 'Keystone' project recently released 'Moonshine', based upon live recordings of their show at Bray Jazz Festival in 2007
DAVE DOUGLAS - MOONSHINE
The brilliant American composer/trumpeter Dave Douglas recently released 'Moonshine', a new album based upon recordings of his group's performance at Bray Jazz Festival, last year.

Dave was thrilled with the project 'Keystone' and their European tour, and when they arrived in Bray at the end of more than a month of European dates, he was anxious to capture the chemistry and energy of the group, for posterity.

Courtesy of festival partners RTE LyricFM, who were recording the Bray Jazz show for broadcast, Dave secured recordings of the concert. He took them back into the studio to touch up, and the result is 'Moonshine', a fantastic release from a band at the height of its powers.

Moonshine' is available to download and buy through Dave Douglas' 'Greenleaf Music web-site HERE priced at $10 and $20 respectively. With foreign currency exchange rates being what they are, that's a snip folks !
